Why you shouldn’t use your laptop on your lap


As the name suggest, your laps is perfect place to use your laptop. But while it’s undoubtedly suitable to keep your laptop on your lap, the suitability may not worth the aftermath or the consequences. There are so many negative effects of using a laptop that you may not realize. There are many reasons why you should not use your laptop on your lap. So read this article carefully.

Electromagnetic fields.
Using you laptop on your lap directly may expose your body to a high level of electromagnetic fields which is definitely not good for you.
To minimize this exposure, always keep your laptop on a desk or table or better still use it with an external keyboard.
Fertility concerns.
If you are still interested in having children as a man, there are many reasons you should not use your laptop on your lap. The heat generated by the laptop can destroy the quality of human sperm within ten to fifteen minutes of exposure and also scrotal temperature may reach unsafe levels. If you are frequent male laptop user, you could be destroying your testicles and also reducing the production of sperm as well when you keep your laptop on your lap.
The reason why many women find it difficult to get pregnant is due to male exposure to electromagnetic frequencies. Also exposure to internet WiFi on the lap can harm the DNA, which can lead to DNA fragmentation. So, dudes reason twice before keeping your laptop on your lap.
Head and neck strain.
The way a laptop is designed is the reason for a bad posture and awkward positioning of the body so as to suit the design of laptop computer. This positioning will make the user to start developing head or neck strain.
To avoid these problems, sit on a chair and keep your laptop on a table or desk.
Desist from using your computer right before going to bed.
To promote sleep, stay off from your computer. Studies show that the light emitted from laptop computer screen can prevent the user from sleeping well. This light may reduce the production of melatonin, thereby making it difficult for one to fall asleep.
Toasted skin syndrome
Exposure to an overheated (laptop is in heavy or demanding use which will make the components to work extra hard to perform requested tasks) can lead to a condition called ‘erythema ab igne’ but commonly called “toasted leg syndrome”. The area affected will change to a red or pink rash. It forms depending on how long and how often you use your laptop on your lap or how often it gets excessively hot. The condition will develop over time.
Prevention.

Luckily, it is very simple to prevent these dangers. Instead of using your laptop on your lap, keep it on a desk or table and use it while sitting down. Don’t allow the laptop to come in contact with your legs. Consider buying a laptop cooling pad or stand. This pad helps in preventing toasted skin syndrome but doesn’t work best in preventing rise in testicular temperature.
