KNOW MORE ABOUT GONORRHEA

Gonorrhea
This is a highly sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by a bacterial infection. It is sometimes referred to as clap. The nickname ‘clap’ means the treatment which involves draining of pus form the urethra, whereby the penis is ‘clapped’ at both sides at the same time. Gonorrhea involves a thick discharge from the vagina or penis. Gonorrhea may survive in the eyes, throat, blood, skin, penis, vagina, mouth, rectum and joints. Gonorrhea spreads during having unprotected sex with an infected person through vaginal fluids or semen. It also spreads through anal sex, oral sex, vaginal sex, sharing sex toys, close physical contacts & touching the private parts or the eyes with fingers, and from mother to her child during childbirth.
You cannot contract it through simple kissing and sharing of baths, towels, toilet seats, spoons or cups.
Symptoms of gonorrhea in men include: white, yellow or green discharge from the tip of the penis; pain or burning sensation during urination; urethral itching and inflammation of the testicles and prostate gland. Symptoms in women include: strong smelling of vaginal discharge that may be watery or thick and yellow/green; pain or burning sensation during urination; frequent urination; painful and abnormal vaginal bleeding; and low abdominal pain coupled with nausea. About half of the women with gonorrhea have no symptoms at all. About one tenth of men having it shows no symptoms.
This disease is caused by the proliferation and growth of a bacteria called Neisseria gonorrheae. This disease can transmitted through any type of contact sexually. Someone may spread the bacteria to any part of his/her body like through; rubbing his or her eye thereby spreading the infection unknowingly. This can slowdown the treatment period.
Treatment
Antibiotics is used in treating gonorrhea because it is bacterial infection. These antibiotics may be taken orally or through injection. Sexual activities are strictly prohibited until one has finished his undergoing prescribed treatments. That one feels better does not mean the infection is no more. So there is need to notify anyone the infected person had contact with in the past month about the infection..
Use condom always. It does not only reduces your chances of contracting gonorrhea but also the chances of contracting other sexually transmitted diseases. These infections are most common among the promiscuous. Consult a medical professional if you are suspecting you or your partner may have been infected with gonorrhea. Abstain from sex until you meet the medial personal.
